Shanghai Showdown
From November 11 to 14, Shanghai tour qualifiers had to face up to the challenge of keeping pace with the demands of a highly eventful week. Here’s a rundown of those five glorious days.
Only the Finest
A deluxe hotel located on Nanjing Road, the most famous commercial belt in Shanghai, and just minutes away from the famous People’s Square was the temporary residence of choice for E. Excel travelers. Only the best accommodation - as it has always been in all incentive tours.
The Ultimate Train Ride
A great sense of wonder and privilege filled every E. Excellers as they rode what many considered a long-standing dream for railway engineers. With its unsurpassed record speed of 430 km/h and magnetic levitation drive system, China’s Maglev Train was one ride that would surely linger in their minds long after the tour.
Everyday Feast
Like emperors who revel in a profusion of cuisine from breakfast to lunch, E. Excellers dined to their stomach’s content in Shanghai’s renowned restaurants. Boasting of traditional and modern elements, these eateries also filled every E. Exceller’s appetite for culture.
Night Cruise
There is no better way to see the magnificence of Shanghai’s modern skyscrapers than during a starry night on a boat. When evening fell on their first day, E. Excellers took a cruise on Shanghai’s most important shipping artery – the Huangpu River. From the boat, they gazed the stately row of buildings and splendid array of multi-national architecture that painted the night skyline with alluring luminosity.
Honoring the Land
A visit to the old house of Soong Ching Ling, one of China’s freedom fighters, kept the custom of E. Excellers alive. In all incentive tours, it’s imperative for them to know significant historical figures as a way of showing respect to the countries they visit.
Green & Serene
In the middle of Shanghai’s busy metropolitan setting, Yuyuan Garden & Bazaar immersed E. Excellers to a unique level of tranquility. Being the most complete classical garden in the city and having a maze of Ming dynasty pavilions, elaborate rockeries, goldfish and lotus ponds, Excellers soon discovered why it was called “the Garden of Peace and Comfort”.
High & Mighty
Standing as one of the highest towers in Asia, the Oriental TV Tower gave E. Excellers more than just an unbroken view of the city; in a way, it also reminded them that their hard work has indeed put them on top.
A Different Underwater Experience
Though E. Excellers know that it’s fun to be on top, they can’t deny the fact that going below can be as exciting. Walking through the spectacular underwater viewing tunnel of the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, E. Excellers had the unique opportunity to come at close range with countless exotic marine creatures – like they were really exploring the great deep.
The Circus is in Town!
The Circus and Acrobatic Show’s breathtaking act of strength and flexibility combined with theatrical effects and comedy was a delightful way of concluding a busy day for E. Excellers.
Shopping Galore!
After spending almost an entire day with stalls piled with clothes, bags and inexpensive silk goods, any avid E. Excel shopper would have surely agreed that Xiang Yang Market is a real bargainer’s paradise.
A Night to Remember
Famished after a day of rummaging through bargains, E. Excellers were treated to a dinner unlike any they had since their arrival. A Gala Dinner and fireworks display for all international delegates was prepared and hosted by no less than the one who started it all – Dr. Jau-Fei Chen. With the rare opportunity to see Dr. Chen and mingle with other fellow E. Excellers from other countries, it was truly a night worthy of remembrance for everyone.
An Educational and Inspiring Visit
Seeing the ultramodern Shanghai office or manufacturing plant on magazines or videos is one thing, but to personally step on its premises is an entirely different subject. It was an absolute treat for the travelers to see both prominent structures and learn more extensively about how E. Excel products are prepared. Entranced on being inside these places also made E. Excellers realize how stable, renowned and innovative the company really is. |
